You're my Love Prize in Viewfinder by Ayano YamaneYaoi Title Story: A young newspaper photographer followed a hunky yakuza-type a little too close. Interrogation, yaoi-style, ensued. Kitty Says: An up and coming artist that's rising through the Biblos rank in the past year. Her stories are a little on the common side, but her artwork's stunning enough to distract you from the plot. If she managed to break out of the short story phase and pursue a coherent serial, she might just oust Kodaka Kazuma. |

Jadou: Side Story part 1 Novel by Tsubasa Kawahara and artwork by Mamiya OkiShoujo (Shonen ai) The Story: This side story's main focus is on the relationship between a guardian god Tei-ou and his lover, a beautiful demon Keika. The novel itself is impressively complex and well written -- to the point that unless you read Japanese, the story will be lost to you completely. Even with Oki's detailed manga/visual interpretation of the novel. The following details contain spoilers for the manga. Keika, in his human disguise, visited a village to provide medical aide to the humans who lived there. Tei-ou and Keika's path crossed when Tei-ou came to the assistance of whom he thought was a human being attacked by a demon. When Keika realized who Tei-ou was, he tried to leave. Tei-ou also discovered then Keika was a demon. Fascinated by Keika's unusual beauty, Tei-ou took his prize home -- much to the dismay of his men and his family. Tei-ou's family harbored deep hatred for demons, and this sentiment was shared by the other Taikaijin (the demi-gods). Tei-ou kept Keika in an empty wing of the palace as he made pleas to keep the demon as his lover. The more Tei-ou realized he could not and should not have Keika, the more he felt he was in love with the demon. Tei-ou's brothers decided to end Tei-ou's infatuation by sending a group of men to kill Keika while Tei-ou was at Tia's palace. Tei-ou was making his case to his friend to give him the permission to keep Keika. The men became distracted with Keika's beauty and decided to rape him before killing him. The momentary lapse of judgment gave Keika enough time to draw the sword Tei-ou had left for him. Keika managed to cut off the hand of the man who had touched him, but the slaughter was halted by another Taikaijin, Ashray. Although Keika can handle a sword well, Ashray proved to be a difficult opponent. Tei-ou and Tia watched the confrontation through a portal mirror rise to a near fatal level. Unable to restrain himself, Tei-ou crossed into the battle through the mirror with Tia's powers. Ashray was disgusted with Tei-ou but did end the fight after Tei-ou took a hard hit for Keika. Keika was moved by Tei-ou's genuine show of love and suggested that perhaps Keika should also return the love through death. Keika could not bear to see Tei-ou lose everything because of him. Tei-ou became furious at the suggestion but he understood Keika's unwillingness to see Tei-ou being taunted by his family and friends. Tei-ou assured Keika they will be fine and that he would trade in everything he has in the world to be together. Days later, during what was suppose to be Keika's public sentencing and possible execution, Tei-ou snatched Keika into his arms and fled. Tei-ou had retained a special permission from Tia to keep Keika with him. However, to avoid the uneasiness and unhidden hatred his family had toward Keika, Tei-ou and his lover settled in a modest little cottage instead. Their lives were without the excess and wealth Tei-ou's rank afforded him, but he could not be happier with a simpler life with Keika. |
