A Perfect Day for Jusenkyo Disclaimer: Ranma is the property of Rumiko Takahasi. All aspects and characters about Ranma are used without her permission. Author's Notes: This story is darkfic based upon how I feel J.D. Salinger would write a Ranma story. The plot is based upon is famous story A Perfect Day For Banana Fish. This story takes place five years after Volume 38 of the Japanese Manga. The Story There were ninety-seven New York advertising men in the hotel, and, the way they were monopolizing, the long distance lines, the girl in 507 had to wait from noon till almost two-thirty to get her call through. She used her time wisely, though. She cleaned the small stain out her plaid skirt, read a magazine article about the Clinton sex scandal even though she did not care, and was in the middle of brushing her kawaii hair when her call got through. "Hello" the girl said picking up the phone in her left hand while still brushing her hair with the right hand. "Mrs. Hibiki, I was able to get your call to Nerima through" responded the concierge. "Thank you" answered Mrs. Hibiki while making sure the phone was firmly held between her shoulder and her head so she could let her hands concentrate on brushing her hair. "Do you realize what time it is here?" responded a very tired and slightly mad voice on the other end. "Ukyo it's me, Akari" responded Mrs. Hibiki." "Akari why didn't you call sooner. You were given explicit directions to call as soon as you reached Florida" "I'm sorry, there's a convention going on here so the long distance lines are being used all the time. I have tried to call you for the last two days." "How is he?" asked Ukyo "Depressed but it's odd he actually has a sense of direction when he is depressed. He was able to drive the full distance from the airport with out getting lost. Responded Akari. "How long was the ride?" "Only Forty mile but with traffic it took us an hour to get to the hotel. How's Akane?" "She stop being angry at him and started crying three days ago. She hasn't let Ranchan leave her side for the past few days. I think she honestly feels that Ryoga-honey betrayed her trust. You know how she used to cry to P-chan when she was upset?" "Yeah I know. How are you doing?" "I am fine. I think I am finally getting over Ranma and Akane's wedding. It's been four months but I feel like I know longer need to live in the past. Shampoo finally gave up a month ago and moved back to China with Mousse, I just got an invitation for their wedding. I guess contacts really did improve his sight. Say were you able to find Spring of the Drowned Man?" "Yes" responded Akari. "We found it about six weeks ago. You know part of me didn't want him to jump in but it was for the best. His curse would have only reminded him of Akane more and he would never get over his depression. I sent a map with its location to Ranma yesterday, I should have sent it sooner but I was busy making sure Ryoga-sama would not do anything drastic in his depression." "What did you do between then time between then?" asked Ukyo. "I took him back to my family's farm so I could watch over him. About two weeks ago, he proposed to me. We had a private ceremony. his Doctor recommended we go on a vacation far away so he could sort out his mind without having too many distractions from friends and family. You didn't tell anyone we were going away, right?" "Not a soul sugar listen it's very late here and I need to get some sleep. So goodbye." Ukyo said as she hung up her phone and went to bed. "Sleep. I could use some of that." Akari thought to herself, as she put the phone back on its hook. She took one last look out of the room's window to see if she could spot her husband before she went to the bed to take a nap. "Mommy, I don't need more sun screen" screamed a young girl on the beach. "Yes you do Sybil, dear. Other wise you are going to get a very nasty sunburn. They're all done. Listen Mommy needs to get a Martini, why don't you go see if Mr. Hibiki wants to play. I'll save you the olives." Okay said the young girl as she ran to find her new found friend on the beach. Twenty feet down the road. Ryoga was lying face down in the sand, thinking about the tragic events that happened two months ago. The weather forecast gave no hint of rain and the picnic was going so well until Hurricane whatever struck. Actually it was only a modest downpour but To Ryoga it might as well have been a Hurricane, maybe then, he would have been washed away, instead of turning into P-Chan right in front of Akane's face. He still had nightmares about her screaming "Ryoga No Baka" as she punted him into the atmosphere. Luckily, Akari had been there too so she went chasing after him as Ranma tried to calm Akane down and ended up getting launched as well. "Mr. Hibiki" a young girl screamed as she hurried towards him. "How are you today, Miss Carpenter?" "I'm fine. Let's go play in the sea." said the little girl. Ryoga felt faint at the thought of cold water. He knew his curse was gone but still tried to avoid cold water when possible because he feared that his curse would return. Still part of him could not refuse such a young girl's offer, he did want to make her cry. "Fine" he mumbled "let's go play." "Silly, the ocean is the other way." Sibyl said as she grabbed his ran and began to run towards the sea at a speed that would take the stripes of a tiger's skin. "I have an idea" said Ryoga as he picked the girl up unto his shoulders. "Let's take your raft out and look for Jusenkyo fish. "What are Jusenkyo fish?" asked the young girl. "They are magical fish, that live in Hot Springs at the bottom of the ocean. They turn into mermaid's when they come in contact with cold water." responded Ryoga as seriously as he could. Twenty minutes later they were out at sea with Sybil beginning to get very upset. "You lied" she pouted "There are no such things as Jusenkyo fish." "Oh yeah? There's one right there." Ryoga said while pointing to the port side of the raft. "Really" Sybil squealed as she rushed over to the side of the raft Ryoga was pointing at. "I can barely see it" she said with a mix of excitement and disappointment in her voice. "Then I'll give you a closer look" Ryoga said as he hoisted the young girl up pretending to throw her overboard. "No" shrieked the young girl. Instead of throwing her overboard. Ryoga just placed her down on the boat and kissed her ankles. "Come on" he said "We have to get back you mother is probably worried about your safety." As they got back to the beach. A depressed Ryoga made his way back to his hotel room. He was glad he delighted the girl with his tale of magical fish but why did he have to mention Jusenkyo. It only made him think about Akane and thinking about Akane made him depressed. This time he was so depressed he didn't even remember to blush when a girl in a too small bikini, flirted with him on the elevator all the way to the fifth floor. All he did was try to stop the tears from flowing out of his eyes. When he opened the door to his room and saw his wife sleeping on the bed he could not control his tears anymore. Her walked to her, bent down, kissed her, and mumbled two things "I Love You" and "I'm sorry." After that he went to the window sill, sat down and began to build up his depression chi. Instead of releasing it he just simply let it flow to his heart. Ryoga expected his heart to explode into a million pieces inside his body, but that did not happen. His heart just stopped functioning. As he surrendered to the blackness his final thought was "I love you Akane and I'm sorry, I love you Akari and I'm sorry."
