Plot Summaries:

A young man follows his girlfriend into an alternate future world where he is the doppleganger for the much despised/loved Genji. Although dead, Genji is the obsession of friends, family, and enemy, alike. - reviewed by MEverdark

Remarks:

This is an alternate universe historical fantasy involving many characters from approximately the same period of Japanese history - Minamoto no Moritomo (Genji), Yoshitsune, Benki, and Taira no Kiyomori. It also involves political intrigue, horses, swords, guns, tanks, and computers.

The story is a bit episodic and disjoint, and fails to weave many of the plot points into a coherent whole. It also fails to take full advantage of it's historical setting. Still, I like it for it's historical angle. Unlike KOUGA Yun's current shoujo work, the character designs in Genji are from her distinctive earlier period.

Volume 1 was published in 1988. The tale is unfinished at 8 volumes.
