Solfege

A young opera student is tutored by the best teacher of "solfege" (operatic technique/method of learning) in Japan. The teacher is a booze-drinking crabby gay guy with (usually) bad taste in partners; the student is a wide-eyed innocent who adores the teacher. Follows several years of their lives, through training to the start of the student's career. These characters change over several years. The teacher starts out as a horny arrogant prick, and mellows. The student starts out as a doe-eyed innocent, and matures. Their sexual relationship shows some of this see-sawing: in some scenes the student is uke, and in others the teacher is---but the student is still the one hollering "dame!"
