As the title implies, this is yet another "Christianity as a fashion statement" manga, complete with liner notes for the pagans who may not know "the Angelus" is. In this instance, the sole cross one must bear comes in the form of restraining oneself from wanting to stuff the manga into garbage chute. One does not have to know much about religion to know the odor of pretentiousness. This manga reeked of it. At the first glance, the cover hinted a slight hope that this manga may turn out to be something more than eye candy. Amakawa's art style is comparative to that of CLAMP's and as it turned out, the female characters therein is about as annoying as CLAMP's bishoujos too. The stories, three cases of exorcism this high schooler who's never in school, were mundane and littered with image of crucifixes coming out of his forehead and hands. The boy even exorcised his nun/mother (religions sure have changed) from a mirror in the second story. Pointless tales that is about as clever as the sock puppets. Oh wait, there's a chance you'll be entertained by the socks. |
