Combination 1-2: Leeza Sei/CLAMP Genre: Shojo Theme: Two detectives with distinctly opposite personalties chases after the Yakuza demons that’s knawing at the senior partner’s hide. Yaoi Value: 0 This IS CLAMP. Artistic Value: 2.5 Not the best CLAMP handiwork but by far it’s not the worst either. Unresolved Sexual Tension: 2.5 There’s a lot of possibilities between the detectives, the detective’s live-in and those two detectives, the live-in and yakuza, yakuza and the two detectives but in the traditional CLAMP’s gray area style, none of it was clear. Even the detective and his live-in (and I refrain from saying "lover" because it was never said but every other synonym was used in their dialog) didn’t get past a comfort hug. What a waste. Overall: 2.5 I like cop-themes, as typical as COMBINATION was. A senior cop who’s suicidal and burned out gets paired up with a younger, more attentive one with every cause to live. The whole story’s not very sophisticated but it’s a new venue CLAMP explored from their usual supernatural, depressing judgement day themes. Mitagating Factor: In manga-land, you can have your hand shot by a Beretta at point blank range and have all of your digits still attached to the palm of your hand.
