The legend has it, that once humans and demons lived together in peace and harmony. The gods, jealous of their happiness, drove them from their paradise, and took away their long lives and power. Now both humans and demons yearn to return to their arcady on the other side of the ocean. Now one demon and one country had finally found their peace. One man found that he had the power to calm the demon's thirst for blood and misery, and braving the devil's lair, made a pact with the demon king Alfred. Though the generations his descendents, acting as the high priest of the country, had lived with the demon king Alfred, acting as his companion and friend. This story concerns one particular high priest, Rolan, who became rather more than a friend. Demons far outlived the humans, and every high priest's first concern was to produce another child to take over his position after he passed away. But Alfred only wanted Rolan and Rolan alone. A beautiful story about loving too well and too unwisely.
